Larry Cunningham hails from Granard Co Longford .  Larry's Early Ambition was to become a priest.  Larry is Part of A showband Folklore.  Larry's earliest recording was A Tribute To Jim Reeves which was in 1965 the tribute song not only made it into "The Irish Top Ten" but also figured in the British charts a rare occurrence at that time.  Consequently Larry & The Mighty Avons became one of the most sought after Musical Combinations in Ireland & The UK.  Prior to That breakthrough Larry had played for a time with The Grafton Band a Cavan Based Outfit.  Ironically he had left them because they had become too popular and it was interfering with his day job as a Carpenter.  However Larry's Reputation was so great once the news had got out he was no longer with The Grafton Band, he was approached by members of "The St Bridget's Ceili Band who were on the lookout for a Lead Singer.  Larry had refused their invitation on a number of occasions, but was persuaded eventually and so "The Mighty Avons were Born.

Larry has had so Many hit songs such as The Emigrant, Pretty Little Girl From Omagh, I Guess I'm Crazy, Don't Let Me Cross Over, Among The Wicklow Hills, Mother The Queen Of My Heart, Slaney Valley, Snowflakes, The Story Of My life, And Hello Mr Peters a duet with Margo

Larry still appears at different concerts, Dances in North & South.  Larry Cunningham Is part of a Showband Folklore and it should never be forgotten that he was one of the most influential Country Music Performers in the history of Irish Show Business.
