A Guitar and A Song In His Heart
John Hogan Lives in County Offally but his Homeplace is Killbeggan County Westmeath. It has always been John's Ambition to become a professional entertainer but like others before him, the genial Westmeath man suffered one setback after another, chasing what seemed like an elusive dream. All that changed in 1987. John took it upon himself to spend his mortgage money to record a song called Brown Eyes which his mother had learnt as a child. By any standards it was quite a big undertaking. When he arrived at Slane Studios on that special day all John Hogan had with him was a guitar in a cardboard box and a song in his heart. There was no need to worry though because "Brown Eyes" proved to be a magical recording, earning Top Ten Status with sales in excess of Ten Thousand. John Hogan's Early Years were spent working as a Supervisor in a local Bord na Mona Briquette Factory in Croghan County Offaly but even at that stage his flair for music was evident and he often entertained his colleagues with a few songs.
After the success of "Brown Eyes" John decided to give up his steady job to concentrate on a full time career in show business. The subsequent formation of a new band . John had to work seven days a week for the first six months. The hard work paid dividends and soon John was attracting Crowds at many of the major venues.
In 1990 John signed a contract With Ritz Records and immediately entered The Irish Charts with the Dillon/Overstreet Composition "Still Got A Crush On You".
