Irelands Number 1 Rising Star

Jimmy Buckley was born on the 19th of November 1971, he stands at 5-7” and has brown eyes and fair hair. Although born and reared in Doon Co. Limerick, Jimmy now resides in Galway with his wife and children

Singing and Music plays a Huge part in Jimmy’s life and he notes Elvis and Buddy Holly as among his greatest earliest influences. Jimmy plays guitar and his first professional stage appearance was on the 20th of August 1991.

Before turning professional Jimmy worked as a sales Rep and played locally with a band called “Nitefall” however Jimmy decided to go professional when he received his first big break on the television show “Secrets” which was hosted by one of Irelands top celebrities Gerry Ryan, the show was a huge success and was shown on R.T.E. and Jimmy has never looked back.

A song written by his manager Henry Mc Mahon titled “Your Wedding Day” went on to became the biggest selling Irish Single of 2003, and followed by Best Selling Album of the same name.

Jimmy himself is greatly interested in song writing and has written a number of songs including “A Mothers Love” and “Have You Found Somebody New” and he was co-writer of the excellent number one single “Cottage By The Sea” which was featured on one of his earlier albums.

Original material written by his manager Henry Mc Mahon has played a big part in Jimmy’s success. “Broken White Lines” which was the title track of the album released in 2005 and the most recent song “Her Husband And Her Lover” which is included on Jimmy’s “Live In Concert” DVD proved once again to be a winning formula.

In February 2005 Jimmy was awarded the prestigious honour of being voted

“Personality of the Year” as voted by the listeners of the hugely popular Hugo Duncan Show on BBC Radio Ulster.

Jimmy was voted “Entertainer Of The Year” in 2006.

In November of 2006 Jimmy was asked to be the opening act on 3 of Charlie Pride’s Irish Tour Dates. Charlie and his manager John Daines were so impressed with Jimmy’s performance; they asked him to be his opening act on his Canadian Tour, hopefully to be scheduled for early 2008.

In 2006 Jimmy recorded his 1st Live DVD and Video, to a sell out audience, in the new state of the Art “Iontas Theatre” in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Jimmy was in superb singing form and he used a special 12 piece band along with his own excellent band and the show was a huge success.

At the Irish World Awards in London on Monday 26th February 2007, Jimmy received his Award for his “Live In Concert” DVD, which won BEST DVD of 2006.

Jimmy’s career is going form strength to strength and he has conquered the Irish music scene and he continues to be one of Irelands top Dancing and Recording artists he has also made his mark on the concert scene in England and Spain.

When Jimmy is not touring or recording he is passionate about his hobby, which is breeding, rearing and racing Greyhound Dogs.
