TR Dallas.
From quiet beginnings in the little village of
TR who's real name is Tom Allen is a brother of Tony Allen of Foster Allen fame and another brother, Jack, was one time lead vocalist with the midlands cabaret group, Allendale. Reared on a small country farm, Tom came to appreciate music at a very early age and while still very young joined the local church choir. On leaving school the young Tom Allen became an apprentice mechanic and during that period teamed up with a local group and played support to many of the famous Showbands of the "Sixties" experiencing first hand the very special atmosphere of "Big Time" show business.
The late sixties saw Tom take over as lead singer of The Fine Avons but two years later his career came to an abrupt halt when he underwent surgery for tonsillitis. That set back kept him off the road for a considerable length of time.
Before the end of the seventies Tom had fronted two further bands "the Sailors" and then the famous "Mainliners" from whom he replaced John Glenn as Lead Vocalist Later after leaving The Mainliners and forming his own band he had a chart hit with the novelty song called "Who Shot JR" by the time his follow up single" It's Hard To Be Humble" was released Tom Allen had become TR Dallas and even better than that a Household Name . TR has had a string of hits includes "Daddy's Girl" , "Big Tom Doesn't Play Here anymore" , "The Last One To Touch Me" and the old favourite " 21 Acres Of Land".
Through the years TR Dallas has earned a reputation as a first class live performer in the toughest of all professions.
TR's Early ambition was to be a mechanic, his favourite Irish singers are Philomena Begley and Joe Dolan.
