Nua are a three piece Irish Contemporary Folk band from County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The three band members have only recently come together to write and produce this self titled debut album, each person bringing their own taste and experience, formed by many years working within the Irish music industry.

Stevie Darby: A well local known Irish songwriter and quantity surveyor by trade, plays the five string banjo, bass and guitar. Over the years Stevie has written many songs, recorded by other Irish artists, that have featured in the Official Irish Charts.

Ona Darby: The bands lead vocalist and Stevie’s sister, is also a quantity surveyor, hence the many references to the building trade in the lyrics throughout the album. Ona is a relative newcomer to Irish music but has sung in musical theatre and operatic societies across all Ireland, including The Grand Opera House in Belfast. She brings a breath of fresh air and eclectic quality to the band.

Mark Haddock: A wealth of musical experience and talent is added by tenor banjo player Mark Haddock. Mark is a multi instrumentalist, producer and is the backbone of the band. He has shared the stage with many of Ireland finest including: Mary Black, Gerry O’Connor and Cathal Hayen. His original and energetic style sets the pace for this debut release.

With a growing reputation in Scandinavia, Nua were recently were invited to Oslo to be part of Norway’s National Day of Music - their snappy tunes could be heard echoing throughout the streets of the city !

The bands evocative songs are also being fast recognised at home. Earlier this year Nua performed at the Fix SAM Emerald Ball at the Europa Hotel in Belfast - hosted by Jimmy Nesbitt. The track Jigsaw Pieces  has now been adopted by the charity, to be used on all their upcoming promotional material.
